The next meeting of the Board of Directors: TBD early 2026
One of the perks of being a Bar-K Association Member is the enjoyment of our 3 beautiful lakes, kept stocked with Rainbow Trout. Fishing and boating are favorite pastimes for many of our Members; but with this privilege comes great responsibility - both for the safety of our community and for the conservation of the lands we manage. There are rules posted at each lake and we encourage you to read them EVERY TIME you go fishing, as rules can change due to the health of the lakes and the availability of fish. Lakes and Fishing Rules and Catch Limits are below.
Please read lake postings to understand the lake rules as they change seasonally. USE OF LAKES IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
NO ALCOHOL on any of the Common Lands, including at the Lakes.
NO SWIMMING - Swimming is no longer allowed at Bar-K Association Lakes due to an insurance exclusion within our General Liability policy for the Association. "Swimming" is defined by the Bar-K Board of Directors as the immersion of the body in water above the knee or using arm or leg motion to propel in water whether by natural flotation or the use of secondary flotation devices. Mounting/dismounting of watercraft is allowed if the intended purpose is to stay above the water surface.
LIFE JACKETS / FLOTATION DEVICES must be worn when boating / paddleboarding - no exceptions!
NO INNER TUBES
NO BAIT. The use of any bait, lure or spinner is prohibited. Use only single hook artificial flies. Exceptions @ Valley Lake and Penny Lake only for kids <12 y/o OR for ice fishing. No exceptions at Rock Lake.
FISHING PASS MUST BE DISPLAYED by Member (or immediate family)
Members (or immediate family) must accompany Guests (limit 4) - larger groups may be accommodated if scheduled in advance. Submit approval requests to the Board of Directors.
Return carp to water immediately if caught - these are stocked for weed control.
Boats kept at lake shall be locked up when not in use.
Boating, Paddle boarding, Kayaking, Ice Fishing and Ice Skating are allowed on the lakes. Electric Boat Motors are allowed on lakes, but are limited to 60 lbs thrust.
All lakes are closed to recreation at dark.
All Bar-K Association COMMON LANDS RULES apply.
Each spring, we stock lakes based on the annual budget and water conditions. Stocking limits are set annually, and specific lakes may be skipped if drought or overgrowth occurs.
Penny Lake and Valley Lake: 4 fish per day per membership. No Bait (unless <12 y/o or ice fishing).
Rock Lake: No Bait - Catch and Release with Flies Only. The use of any bait, lure or spinner is prohibited. Use only single hook artificial flies. Please see below for more info about Rock Lake.
Help Us Bring Back the "Whoppers!" As of June 5, 2025, Rock Lake has been freshly stocked with approximately 400 rainbow trout. While we strive to stock our lakes annually, we want these new additions to reach their full potential. To help them grow into the 5lb legends of years past, we are introducing special fishing rules. Because young trout are easily injured by treble hooks—often leading to high population loss—we are asking anglers to adjust their gear to ensure these fish survive and thrive.
We’ve recently installed a brand-new aeration system to ensure our new fish have plenty of oxygen to thrive! In the past, the hoses have been damaged by heavy lures and high-pound test lines. We’d love your help in keeping this new system running at peak efficiency—please be mindful of your gear around the aerator so we can protect our lake's health.
To protect our investment, Rock Lake remains Catch and Release and Flies Only. We welcome traditional fly fishing as well as spin-cast setups using a bobber and fly. To give our trout the best chance at survival, we highly encourage the use of barbless hooks. In the event a fish is significantly injured (such as bleeding from the gills) and unlikely to survive, please take it home. These are your lakes and your fish; our success in maintaining this beautiful habitat relies entirely on your stewardship and care.
We have also stocked the lake with 15 grass carp. These fish eat the aquatic vegetation and will grow big quickly. If you catch one, please return it to the water immediately.
Please Contact Us if you spot unauthorized anglers (people from outside the neighborhood without a Fishing Pass and/or accompaniment by a Member.)
