Hello Bar K Anglers!
We will be stocking Rock Lake with fish this year. Rainbow Trout will be the flavor this year and we'd like them to grow healthy and strong. Typically, the fish are small when first introduced and can sustain damage when caught with treble hooks. The obvious result is a large population loss when returned to the water. Additionally, the aerator hoses have been damaged by larger lures with higher pound test. The aerator system has been replaced and is oxygenating the water to support our new fish and we'd like to keep the system functioning at its current efficiency for the foreseeable future.
For these reasons, we will keep Rock Lake a catch and release, flies only lake. There are those that use a spin cast setup with a bobber and a fly. This method will be accepted as well. If you choose to bend down the barbs on your flies, even better! If you catch a fish and it is bleeding at the gils, it will probably die. In these cases, please take the fish home but use your best judgement for the fish's survival. These are your lakes and your fish. Our ability to care for these bodies of water relies on your diligence. This also applies to unauthorized anglers. We only stock once a year. Some folks remember the days when you could pull a 5 lb. fish from Rock Lake and we would like to see a return of these whoppers. Valley Lake and Penny lake will still have the 4 fish per membership per day and will allow children under 12 years of age to fish with bait.
