Mitigation Rules

Prior to any woodcutting or removal, contact the Bar-K Board Representative for a required short meeting on site. 

1. Cut at your own risk!

2. Bar-K Members ONLY! 

3. Cut ONLY marked/painted trees with the exception of dead wood or fallen trees. 

4. When cutting painted trees leave no more than 4-inch stump. 

5. Pile slash 6’ tall with a 6’ base. No green wood over 4-inch diameter in the pile. In the area you are working, keep piles as close to each other as possible. 

6. When trimming trees, stack all the slash the day it is cut. 

7. Slash piles should be at least 15’ away from any large standing trees or overhangs whenever possible. 

8. The larger part of each branch should face the center of the pile. (This promotes a complete burn.) 

9. Do NOT remove any wood that you have NOT cut, unless you have the permission of the person who cut the wood.

10. Limb unpainted trees in the area you are working in to at least 6' from the ground.

11. Volunteer to help burn slash piles when scheduled the following Winter.
